Daily Notes

I didn't find the layout of the Algebra textbook our school provided to be particularly engaging... so I collaborated with colleagues and we created our own set of notes- one set for every school day.
My goal was to break down the concepts to the bare bone, enhance the message with simple layout, and integrate pop-culture and vibrant stories into daily lessons.
Math in the Real World

When a generous donor offered me a free class set of TI-83 calculators, I created a lesson plan geared around how to navigate the technology while exploring linear equations and different careers.
Fun and Games
I found that when my students are happy, they work harder. I created a variety of games and also built off of pre-existing tempates to amp up the competition in our class. As a class reward, I rewrote pop-song lyrics into math songs, and performed them on guitar (see: "Some Lines I Make Up").

Data Tracking
I found that most lessons didn't go exactly according to plan. In order to make the best use of our time, I spent time each day tracking student mastery, in order to determine whether we needed to revist a topic. This helped me easily identify effective and ineffective lessons, and adapt to my students' needs.
